Pay above the local market
We set pay above the going rate in each talent market, on purpose. It is the simplest way we know to get the strongest people to pick up when we call, and to keep them in your seat.
Contractanaut is a team of more than 14 people who spent years inside remote recruitment and staffing companies, some of them the ones we now compete with. We know how this industry treats employers and the people it places, because we used to do the work.
We had worked at different agencies, in different countries, in recruiting, account management, training and payroll. Life put us in the same rooms, and people who have had the same job end up talking about it. So we talked.
The stories matched a little too well. An employer's rate went up every year while the person in the seat hadn't had a raise in two. Good people quit the week they learned what the client was being billed for them. When a hire didn't work out, the client was mostly left to deal with it. The logos changed from story to story and not much else did.
It was unfair in both directions, and that was the part that stuck with us. Employers were overpaying. The people doing the work were underpaid. The agency in the middle was doing fine.
After enough of those evenings, complaining started to feel like a decision in itself. We knew how the work gets done, where the money goes and which corners get cut. We could keep watching or we could build the agency we would have been proud to work for. We formed Contractanaut.
None of this is secret. Ask anyone who has worked at an offshore staffing agency for a few years and you will hear some version of it.
How we found itHow we run it
Skilled people are not hard to find outside the US. There are accountants in Kosovo, executive assistants in the Philippines, and sales and operations people across Latin America, Eastern Europe and South Africa who are as good as anyone you would hire locally.
Getting the best of them is mostly a question of pay. We pay above the local market rate because the strongest candidates already have jobs, and a better offer is what moves them.
Even paid well, that person costs far less than the same hire in the US. You can check the US side of that with our cost of hiring calculator. The gap is real, and it is the reason this industry exists.
What an agency does with the gap is the whole story. The ones we worked for pushed the client's price up and the person's pay down. We set one flat monthly rate, publish it, and pay the person properly out of it.
Fairness is easy to put on a wall. These are the six places it shows up on a payslip or an invoice.

Everyone we place has health insurance and we cover the cost. At the agencies we came from that was a perk for head office. We treat it as part of the job.
People are trained between the offer and their first day, including on AI tools such as Claude Code, and the coaching continues once they are working with you.
Every client has someone at Contractanaut who is responsible for that seat going well. Every candidate has one too. You both know who to call, and they answer.
Prices are on the site, starting from $2,400 a month for a full-time seat. No placement fee, no setup fee, $0 until the person starts, month to month after that.
Our AI layer records how each seat is done in a living playbook. If someone has to be replaced, the next person inherits it. Replacement is free, as many times as it takes.
The AI layer is there to capture knowledge and coach people. It is not used to watch them. See how it works, or read the replacement guarantee and its four conditions.
Recruiters, account managers, trainers, payroll and operations people. More than 14 of us, and every one has worked in remote staffing before, including for companies we now compete with. Nobody is learning the business on your account.
What that experience buys you is mostly the absence of surprises. We know which interview answers predict a no-show in week three. We know what a fair salary is in Pristina and in Cebu, and what happens to retention when an agency pays under it. We have sat on the other end of the replacement call.
The four companies in our case studies are the ones we can show you. Read how each fill went, including the slowest one.
The featured people on the front page are public and need no call. If you would rather talk the role through, twenty minutes is enough.
